Grow your skills and your confidence, with training and support for volunteers.
Girlguiding offers extensive training for volunteers, both online and in person.
A range of subjects are offered on the Girlguiding learning platform, including A Safe Space Levels 1 and 2, online safety, data management, and the Girlguiding programme. Volunteers can complete these at a time that is convenient for them.
Zoom-based training is also offered. These sessions are usually booked in advance.
Within our county we regularly offer training sessions that volunteers can attend in-person. These are usually booked in advance.
When we get together as a county, it’s a chance to meet the county team, fellow volunteers, network and swap ideas, and take part in workshops and training.
If you’d like to step up to become a unit leader, provide a great programme and support girls to be their best selves, you’ll need to do the Girlguiding Becoming a leader training. This is provided on the learning platform.
Becoming a leaderMaintaining a safe environment is central to everything we do. Adequate training is a vital component in achieving this.
Every unit must have at least 1 volunteer with a valid first aid qualification. There must also be a leader, assistant leader or leader in training present with A Safe Space level 3.
All formal volunteers must have a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in place, and up-to-date A Safe Space Level 1 and Level 2 training.
