With amazing experiences and plenty of magic moments along the way, Rainbows is an adventure for time travellers, animal trackers, pop singers, stargazers, scientists and artists alike. It’s a wonderful world of exploration and discovery, week after week, where she’ll laugh, sing and make a happy mess... ...and help clear it up!
Rainbows progress through a special age-appropriate programme, based around 6 themes and awards, consistent all the way up from Rainbows, through Brownies and Guides, to Rangers.
Skills Builder badges, with subjects including camping, communication and first aid, are earned during unit meetings.
Interest badges, including Drawing, Animal Lover and Construction, can be earned at home.
Badges and activitiesRainbow units are run and supported by volunteers. Every formal volunteer undergoes a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and has A Safe Space levels 1 and 2. Every unit has at least 1 First Response first-aider, and 1 lead volunteer with A Safe Space level 3.
Our volunteers welcome a helping hand. Parents and carers can assist during a unit meeting on 2 separate occasions each term. Please talk to your unit leader to find out more.
Opportunities for parentsRainbows are encouraged to wear uniform to show they’re part of the Girlguiding family but there is no need to have it before she starts. Badges can be attached to the polo top. The promise badge, which she’ll get after making her Rainbow promise, should be on the left-hand side. All other badges can be placed wherever she chooses.
Membership fees, or subs, will be specific to an individual unit, which is calculated from costs such as their meeting location.
